Well i'm just about out of TPN so was going to order some more but i heard its cheaper and better to make your own version with dry powders? i've only ever used TPN and have pretty much no idea as to whats in it so any advice?

Also can some one explain the ei method to me a bit? from what i can understand you just load the tank up with more than enough of every chemical used by plants then at the end of the week dump a load of water out and start again? is that it? if so how does this kill BBA? surely its more than likely to be one of the chemicals thats killing it off rather than all of them mixed? (or have i missed the idea here?)

Anyways any help would be great as i was going to buy tonight :good:

Yeah i suppose you ould sum EI up like that, have you read the pinned article at the top of this page? You need 30ppm CO2 constantly for EI - i presume you have it.

take a look here for DIY TPN:

http://www.theplantedtank.co.uk/allinone.htm

It is low in PO4 so you may need to add more - i dont know whether it tells you on the web page.

co2 not yet, still on the diy method  Although im going to order it all tonight i think!! been putting it off for so long so may aswell!!

thanks for the link, assuming i can get all this from some where like aquaessentials? or is there a cheaper place to source it all?
