Was just wondering if anyone's successfully bred any of these catfish species??? ????
If so, how'd you do it? it'd be neat if you could post any pics if you can!!

Synodontis multipunctatus lay their eggs at the same time certain mouth brooding cichlids do. The catfish swim in between the breeding cichilids and eat their eggs and at the same time lay their own. The cichlids pick up the catfish eggs and incubate them in their mouth with any of their own that didn't get eaten. A couple of week slater the catfish have hatched and start to eat the cichlid eggs and fry. Eventually the parents spit the fry out and you have 4-8 little spotty catfish.

wow maybe i won't get that kind of syno. then.

Colin_T is correct. Their peculier breeding behavior is such that successful breeding of multipuncs can be rather elusive. In 3 years of keeping multipuncs i've never seen any fry result (although I have witnessed some of their rare attempts to party-crash my other fishes' whoopie-time. )
I wouldnt set your heart on breeding them, but just enjoy them for their grace and beauty.

Yea...i'm not to set on breeding them. I was just curious. I've heard it's hard to do and was just wondering if its happened for anyone! Thanks!

I've seen my lucipinnis (formerly classified as petricola) spawn on more than a few occaisons. Sadly any eggs/fry are eaten long before they're ever seen.

Thank you to everyone that answered! :) I was really curious about it! These look soo cute and I bet the babies are even cuter.....but it sounds like I shouldn't get any hopes up!
