I wasnt at my house for a day(was at my friends hence me still posting) since my family was on holiday and i got pretty bored staying at home by myself so i never fed anyone since it was 1 day/2 nights.
Came back home, Bettas were okay. Community was okay. Dwarf Cichlids were okay.
Checked my African tank.
i orginally had 6 Hongi and 1 OB Peacock as the main fish(have tyhree bristlenoses aswell) FOUR HONGI WERE DEAD!. I couldnt believe it, i tested the water, nothing wrong. I feel so terrible. god. I lost 4 awesome fish and $44 worth aswell.
I'll probably give the rest of the Hongi back to the LFS and give my OB to a friend(dont want those pesky hybrids in my LFS) as its just too expensive to start again.
Ugh, i had such a good run with these fish, so colourful and looked so good.
Well, i'll sure miss them.

Just wanted to post my farewells to them.

Am gutted for you DD  .

You seemed to be really enjoying your Mbuna too.

I had my first loss in my African last weekend too...found my weakest Yellow Lab dead on the floor of the tank :/ . Water in fine and all the others are doing great so not sure what happened :dunno: .

Shame you're not gonna keep on with the others and build your Mbuna community up again but, on the plus side....you have an empty 55 gallon tank to play with now!!

Losing a fish every now and then isn't a big deal, it happens, but losing multiple fish really sucks, and not knowing why sucks even more. Sorry about the Loss DD, but baldranger has the right attitude! What to do, what to do...

Thanks guys,
Yeah i don't mind losing a fish now and then, mainly because i know what went wrong and it didn't effect me that much. But after losing my Caeruleus(my fault) and now the Hongi, it really got to me. It would be too expensive to start again. $15 each for a Hongi and $13.20 for Caeruleus.
But i was looking around in my LFS yesterday and they had some pretty cheap but moderatly big Princess Brichardi cichlids, around $5 for a 4 inch fish. SO i might try my hand at raising these guys and maybe try to breed them.
I'm going to research them first though,
What do you guys think?
