Ottos Hard To Look After?

I just put some cucumber in my tank for my otos but they don't seem to be eating it. Does anyone know how to incite them to do so?

I read somewhere that they have poor eyesight because of the location of there eyes (on top of their head). And that the smell the food. The cucumber should be in there for a good while before they even notice it. It takes sometimes up to two hours for them to notice my algae wafers and they are STINKY!

Thanks guys, wish me best and hope I dont have any losses :D

You should do fine. :good: I wish I could say the same as one of the three I recently bought died. :-(

Just in case you haven't bought the Otos yet, the most important thing to look for when you see them in the LFS is that they are fairly plump. Ask the assistant how long they've been in stock and if they are eating yet; they can take a while to start eating after their very long journey to this country. If you can find Otos that are fairly plump and are eating, you should have much less chance of any losses. Take a little longer to acclimatise them, too, just to be extra cautious. I bought five around two years ago, but they were fat when I bought them and they're still going strong.
