i have three bettas each one in a five gallon tank. i was thinking of putting like two ottocatts per tank, my brother has one in his betta tank. i was wondering they will be ok with each other in a five gallon tank. let me know.

also how many pellets should i be giving me a bettas, i was giving them three then my mom who feeds them while i am at work started giving them five. is that ok because i could it out and give them four pellets only?

Hi
We keep a few oto's in with our males. The bettas can sometimes chase them but soon gives up when they realise they aint gonna catch them
Oto's do need quite an established tank to thrive healthily. They are probably the hardest working algae eaters i have had.

We feed our male bettas 4 pellets twice a day. One day a week though, we dont feed them or just give them one feed.

i have tanks that have been sitting for like two months now, but they would be ok with alge waffers right.

Hi
We have used wafers for them. You have to be sneaky though, as the betta will get em and swim around with them  We normally flick one in the back of the tank after the lights have been out for a while so Mr Betta doesn't notice :hey: :hey:

or distract them with juice blood worms lol

I think ottos are the best tank mates for bettas... but it doesnt always work. my gf had a really docile betta and he has some really long fins so i figured he would be slow.

perfect candidate for ottos right? well he terrorized them all night. i woke up in the morning to observe the tank a bit more cuz he was being so violent. to my surprise he snagged one of the buggers by the tail and attempted to thrash him b4 the guy got away. those poor little ottos went right back to the store within the next hour. my other guy just swims happily and plays follow the leader with his ottos tho. (btw, get more than one... they do better in groups). just be prepared for a backup plan if they dont work out within 24-48 hours.

for food. 3-4 pellets twice a day ;)
