I have a 10 gallon with 2 java ferns and recently they've been getting covered in brown algae. I was wondering if I could get some otos to take care of that, but I'm not sure if they eat brown algae or if they'll damage the plants. I have 1 male betta in the tank right now. Would otos be a good option?

i know they wont do any damage to the plants but im not sure about the brown algue....

hey Valrian what kind of lighting you have for this 10 gallon tank?

Ottos are a good option but a 10 gallon is a small tank, i think they feel more secure in groups but a 10 gallon is to small for a group of ottos, at most i would put 2 in a 10 gallon tank even then it may not be big enough as ottos survive solely on algae usually the diatomic type is best.

You can allways just remove it by hand or with an old toothbrush it usually disappears relatively quickly if the tank is newly setup.
