i have just had had to move my fish out of my main tank into a temp tank due to building works. Had 3 deaths already (barbs). And now one of the oto's has a really big red belly ! Tank is only 10gals pre cycled. Any they are under stress and over stocked but i have no choice at the mo. Any ideas on treatment ?

What are your readings for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate?
What have you got in the tank at the moment?

i'll take some readings tomorrow. Its only been set up a week with a mature filter. Stocked with 9 cardinals 6 barbs 2 shrimp 4 julli corys 4 otos.

Did you take the filter from another tank and if so, how long had that one been set up?
I'm afraid you've added too many fish too quickly and this has probably caused a rise in ammonia and nitrite. You need to perform a 30-40% water change to try and bring the levels down.
It is worth investing in a test kit so that you can monitor your water quality.
Have you got another tank that you could put some of the fish into?
ost fish are sensitive to poor water quality but the Cories and Ottos are perhaps the least hardy. They need to be put into a tank that has had a chance to mature, ideally one that has ben up and running for a couple of months.
