i noticed this morning my oto had a sort of translucent bubble on its nose. does anyone have any idea what it may be?

Ive added some melafix incase its some sort of fungus...

plus do shrimps shed there skin or has mine been killed, personally i think its been killed, what do you reckon ate it from my tank.....??? i cant see any of them killing it cos they were quite fast but ow well..... :byebye:

hello any one there?

(cant reply now im off to work!!!!!) hopefully someone may have said something when i get home

sorry dont know about your oto & his bubble (could it be some sort of blister???)but we have 5 shrimps & like tropjunky we thought one of ours had died after finding a whole shell including feelers (or are they whiskers....antennae???) esp since after they shed the shrimps tend to hide for a little while until their new shell gets hard!!!! imj sure your missing shrimp will make an appearance very soon. :D

Gas bubble disease

Gas Bubble Disease is caused by a sudden dramatic change in gas pressure in the aquarium. This can happen by changing too much water at one time or by adding cold water to the fish tank. Gas bubbles form in the fins and skin of the fish. The bubbles look like blisters and are very easy to see. The skin will crackle if you run your finger across it. If not treated in time, gas bubbles in the bloodstream will kill the fish. The treatment is to add alot of aeration to the aquarium. Lights should be left off to minimize stress. If you see alot of bubbles that have already popped, consider adding a general antibiotic to guard against secondary infection

so i should turn my bubbles up in my tank and ive already added melafix...and this should do the trick!

and yea it does look like that picture except its only got one so far...

and phew i hope my shrimp has just shed..it didnt look eaten it just had the whole outer shell lying there...so i guess maybe it did!

Everyone who keeps shrimp goes through the shock of finding a discarded shell and mourning the death.. then the joy of finding the shrimp alive!

Last week it happened to us. The shell was stuck against the filter intake and I though "oh no" but then I saw Panzer looking all pale and delicate hiding in a cave! Yay for slightly bigger Panzer!

It must be Sherman's turn soon.
