veil tails that are the only varity of siamese fighters i see in pet shops and any of the aquarium stores ive been to. what other varities are there in the UK? are there short finned varieties?
some pictures would be nice if folk have them. bear in mind im talking betta splendedns here (if that is how its spelt).

you can get most varieties in this country but if you can't find a particular tail type why not try breeding yourself :D

halfsun (halfmoonxcrowntail) and crowntail plakats (crowntailxplakats) are varieties that we do not see enough of inthis country unfortunately :/

cheers for that folks! im loving the look of spade tails, plakats and halfmoons, lol, a bit fed up seeing only the old veiltails in the shops, nice as they are! ive never seen any of these varietyies in the flesh as it were, do you think my local aquarium store would be able to order some in?

I breed crowntail bettas, and crowntail plakats.

well i went down to my local to ask if they could get some for me and low and behold they had like a million siamese fighters in, with a few non-VTs. they had a gorgeous red spade tail male, had he been blue or green i would have bought him, but im not keen on reds.
they had a tank full to bursting of small females, tho i suspect there were alot of juvenile males in there, there was alot of bickering and lots of fish had well doveloped fins.
there were alot of crowntails in the tank and so i bought a couple of "females" one i suspect is a male.
what do you think? this one seem to have quite well doveloped fins

and this one just wouldnt sit still long enough to take a pic, but this is about the jist of her
