I am still very new to all this so please bear with me.

My tank is going to be 2.4 wpg with CO2 (Nutrafin + DIY mix)

Are there any plants that I could grow that will form a carpet effect?
I have read and studied the posts on Riccia and Java Moss but neither of them root or 'creep' as I understand it - you tie them down and they grow towards the light, eventually breaking free of the anchor and then you repeat.

Is there any thing that would just spread over the bottom of the tank / over Mopani etc that doesnt need to keep being re-anchored?

The plants in my LFS are pretty poor so would need to be ordered online - so really just need some names to research - and since you guys know all about plants (what works and what doesnt) thought it best to ask on here rather than search blind!

kind regards

java moss and other mosses anchor themselves and spread.Your thinking of riccia fluitans ;)

As cheesy feet said, Java moss will anchor itself however it will still grow vertically rather than horizontally.

Hemianthus callitrichoides and Glossostigma elatinoides are both rounder leafed carpet plants and if you want a grassy plant try eleocharis acicularis or eleocharis parvula. There are many more Im sure people will reccomend.

Ah ok - as I say still finding my feet regarding the world of planted tanks.

Thanks for the names of some plants to look into - always good to have a starting point!
