I've had my male Betta, Drifter, since Feb. this year. I wasn't expecting to get him when I did so he had to deal with a fish in cycle (You know how it is, you go on a trip and at breakfast the last day you realize there`s a pet shop beside the cafe you`re in, so you check it out, and end up spending 50$ on stuff because of the different selection they have from your local region.)
Anyways, I had been keeping my eyes peeled for a red and blue betta. And TADA He`s the only one in the store. I couldn't have been happier!

Thankfully he survived, though he suffered some fin rot as he suffered through the cycling. I have to keep him on a pretty steady schedule of water changes because otherwise his lovely fins start to deteriorate rapidly.

Anyways when I got him for the first two weeks he wouldn't eat. And even now when I feed him he only eats three or four sinking pellets a day, and I feel like he should be eating more...Or is he doing okay on his meager diet?
I've tried giving him blood worms and flaked food but he pays no attention to floating food. I think he enjoys chasing the pellets as they sink. Anyways, my question was, is there any other food I can give him that he may like? Preferably a sinking food, as he likes the chase, and because that way if he doesn't eat it then the shrimp can have a snack.

Mine eats every thing but when feeding I've started giving it zoo meds floating pellets as its specialised betta food. It comes with a little fork thing so you can feed it by hand, this works for me as the other fish would eat his food if I just put it in the water. It eats right of the fork

Check them out on amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B003JW6UHS

I got mine from my LFS

3 or 4 pellets a day is a good amount for a single betta.  Their stomach is aprox the size of their eyeball so you don't want to overfeed because bettas do tend to have issues with bloating and constipation.  For a treat once or twice a week, live food can be given if he really likes to "hunt" his food.  Grindal worms, white worms, daphnia, ect are all good live foods.

Are the bloodworms you've been trying him on frozen or freeze dried?

I may try some live food, it's true that he enjoys the hunt. Any idea on what would be good ones?
I was feeding him freeze dried. Or trying to, he never showed any interest, I don't think he ever actually ate any :p

Try to avoid freeze dried foods when feeding bettas as this is a known cause of bloat for them. It is probably a good thing that he doesn't want to eat them.

They basically eat any creepy crawlies. I usually feed mine a fly or two if I get one in my house. They do better on live foods but if you only have access to pellets that's fine too. Also if you have pregnant guppies you can feed the betta some of the fry if you get too many. Not the nicest thing to do but it helps control the population of your tanks.
