Right i am looking to sell up and change my stock, for a bit of change. I currently have a 63 gal tank(fish in sig) and am thinking of changing to Oscars. I am sick of trying to keep the fish i have alive, have had too many probs over the last 6 months. Deaths, sickness, aggression etc.

Firstly how many O's would be happy in the tank, what they eat and what tank mates would go with. Want to keep my plecs and shark.

THanks for reading and please help me?

the plec should be fine i would say 2 adults in that size

depends if the oscars allow it mate i wouldnt like to try it myself

1 Oscar is max in there, normally 75G minimum is for one. 2 wouldnt work, would require a lot bigger bigger tank, something like 180G.

As for tank mates most oscar's are soft , they eat what fits in their mouth but normally not agressive. So anything to big to fit in it's mouth are normally fine.

Agreed with above, 1 Oscar is pushing it in a 63G, a stocking of 1 plec 1 Oscar and 1 large RTB shark is doable but be prepared to buy some hefty filtration and do regular 50% water changes

Thanks for the info ppl maybe steer clear from oscars  . Any ideas for a setup of largeish fish for this size of tank. Before setting up this time i was thinking of other cichlids(keyholes and other peacefull 1s) though i am swaying towards a predetory setup. Any ideas?

If you do want a predatory setup you could go with snakeheads if your not in the US , Ery ery wolf fish , bichir's , buck tuth tetra/exodons , small piranha etc
Depends on how you want your tank, for some predatory tanks you'll need species only some like the bichir's are genrally fine with anything it doesnt consider food.
Not to familiar with Cichlid's to advise much on them though
