I think my Oscar may have an infection of some sort. He has tiny white dots all over him. This problem has occured before and cleared up. But it's been atleast 4 days now and I am getting worried. Can anyone identify this problem and if I need to Medicate my tank? He seems to be swimming, eating, and behaving normally though.

i agree with mwm it does sound like ick, also when you treat the tank make sure you vacume the gravel as ick lives in it as well and be fast about ick does kill fish pretty fast.

Okay cool. I medicated the tank, and it will be medicated for the next 3 days. After the medicating is through I will let the tank run for a week before placing the carbon back into the filter and then do a water change. Another question though, since I got ich, is it a possibility that it can come back relatively soon?

as long as you cannot see it on any of the fish and it has been gone for like 2 days, its gone for good, unless of course your fish catches it again, but no its not really still in the tank
