I'll give a little background because I have many possible contributing factors.

I have an Oscar who is about 5.5 years old living by himself in a 70 gallon tank. A few weeks ago (Easter Sunday in fact) that tank sprung a leak and half the water emptied all over my floor. I was however able to get him out and transfer him to a makeshift "hospital" tank which was way too small for him. He lived in that tank for 4 or 5 days while I got a new tank ready. I salvaged the gravel and some of the water from my first tank, as well as borrowed some water from my smaller 20 gallon tank.

Anyways, after I moved him back I noticed he lost most of his appetite. I wasn't shocked because he's done this before and I figured it was from stress. After a week or so I noticed that his fins didn't look good (deteriorating a little), I checked the Ammonia, Nitrate, PH etc and all were normal. I wasnt really worried but apparently I should have been.

I noticed two days ago now that he has some sort of "protrusion" coming either from his anus, or right next to it. I'm not sure how to describe it but it looks like a blister, or almost even like a small bubble gum bubble. Regardless it seems to be getting bigger, it up to the size of a marble now.

Does anyone have any insight on what it could be / what my next step should be?

Thanks in advance.

Has the fish lost weight, bubbles coming from the anus can mean a number of things, but if his fins are bad it could be a bacterial infection though its hard to say as there is not enough to go on.

Could it just be it's sexual organ protruding from it's anus area?

My oscar had this sticking out of it for awhile, turned out just to be poo.

It hasn't really lost weight, I was thinking Bacterial Infection too but was confused when this "thing" made its appearance.

I don't think it's an organ because its semi transparent. It looks just like a piece of tissue. It doesn't seem to be causing him pain though, Ive tapped it with the net and have seen him scrape it on the rocks. I was just more worried that it would prevent him from going to the bathroom.

Watch out for signs of internal parasites, red inflamed large anus, worms prutruding from the anus, if the fins are bad i would use a bacterial med on the fish, good luck.
