the problems started around 4 weeks ago. I thought it was ich and treated for that and after two weeks got some more info from a local shop and foudn that it was fungus. Treated for that and one of the oscars looks and is acting great. The other one has most of its skin hanging off and it looks like you can actually see some muscles on both sides.

I've got them in the hospital tank and I've been checking the water every second day and it all looks good. Got the temp up to 82 and increased airation. Followed all directions on the bottle for the fungus cure and added Melafix.

Is it ok to keep this thing alive or should I somehow put it out of its misery......

Hospital tank is 5g

Main tank is 55g.....has 2 oscars, a frog and a pleco. One of the oscars is going to a new home if and when it survives.

I had treated in my main tank and turned my back on my son and he decided to treat again and poured the rest of the meds in the tank......I tore the tank down and cleaned it all out....it was really yellow.....

He sounds pretty far gone then. Even if he does make it he will liekly have serious problems in the future and be susceptable to more sickness down the line. I'd wait for someone elses opinion on this tho as I hate to be the definitive voice in putting an animal down.

Skin hanging off bad water quality, parasites to bacterial.
Need water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Melafix is no good don't bother with it.
Any flicking and rubbing or sores on the fish.

I moved the healthy oscar in another tank today and left the sick one in the hospital tank. I will test the water tomorow and post stats. The one that is better was the first one to get sick and was sick with fungus for over two weeks...he is all better. I'll have to see. How do I put this thing out of it's misery if it gets to that. I hunt but killing a pet is pushing things.

Not sure on location but I would try a bacterial med for now not melafix only good for cuts and wounds.
