hi all. i have an oscar in my 3fter at the moment and he is about 12inches in size.
he has been there with my gold spot pleco for the last 3 - 4 months.
i want to add a green terror in there. a freind has one that is about 20cm in size.
anyway im wondering on how or what is the best way to add the GT to the oscar tank with out ending up with a dead fish in the morning?

i understand they will fight and my oscar will be territorial so i thought i would introduce the two like this.

first ill take out my oscar and bucket him for a few minutes.
while he is in the bucket i will be removing all large rocks to prevent injury and add a heap of plants to the tank.
some bog wood is in there and i will leave that in there.

after the plants are added andmy extremem make over is finished i will then bag the GT and float him in there.
i will then wait and put the GT in teh tank.
from there i will bag oscar and float in the tank while the GT swims around.
i will then add oscar.
now there will be heaps of plants and the change will be drematic.
my thoughts are that if i take out oscar from his territory and change it drimatically by takking out all rocks and moveing bog wood around and adding a heap of plants it will confuse him to think that he is tresspassing on the GT territory.

hopefully this will limit fighting considering both fish havent been given enough time to establish a territory and they will then fight among themselves and re astablish ranks.

do any of you think this will work??
if so are there any tips you could give me?
this will be happining very soon and i need to know quick...
regards, community

I might have misread it, but you have a 12" oscar in a 3ft tank? And you want to add a GT?

I don't think it will work at all, that tank isn't big enough for the oscar alone let alone an oscar and a GT. You need to upgrade your tank ASAP if you want to keep the oscar, maybe with a big enough tank you can have the oscar and GT.
If you introduce the GT anyway, in that small tank I expect the GT would kill the oscar.

I agree with everything said above, there is no chance an oscar and a GT will or should have to co-exist in a 3 foot tank.

Soon enough the oscar will end up with a disease, unless you are doing daily water changes I don't see how a foot long fish can live in a tank 1/3 its size and be healthy or happy, unless the 3footer has some weird dimentions...If you were to simply google this plenty of results would come up and say thats a no, no. :/
Impulse buying is badd, now you have two fish which will not co-exist together, even in the correct size tank they might not get along.55g is ok for most oscars, but a 75 gallon (US) is usually suggested since you should be able to squeeze some tank mates in, and if the oscar does grow past 12' it should have just about adequate space to swim around in.
