I was thinking of buying a shell like this one for my hexagon tank so i could place it in the centre and use it as a hide for my female juwel which i will be collecting in 2 weeks. Is the shell a safe bet? How would i fill the shell to prevent the juwel from swimming in too deep?Stones? Hotglue gun?

I am so anti-shell! Heh. They completely put my first molly tank off-kilter, and I wish I knew now what I did then.

Wouldn't it be alright if you kept fish that needed a high PH? I know African cichlids are an example...

Many people use shells in african cichlid tanks without problems. I don't know about blocking the shell though - would the fish actualy swim too deep in the first place?

Umm... right anyone with shell dwellers :p I have a question... Do you block the inside of the shells you use to keep the cichlids from going too deep? I've never heard any mention of this... And I wan't to get some myself...

(sorry if I'm hyjacking BTW) I just don't see the point in creating a new thread for a simple yes or no question. :p

QUICK, get the POLICE!!! hes hijacking the thread, no problem, i asked the question above anyways

The shell will be used for juwel cichlids so i guess they should be okay.

Im worried they may swim a little to deep and get wedged in :byebye:
