hello, i have a starter 50 litre tank, in there there is 3 guppies, 3 mollies (2 silver plus orange molly), 4 leopard danios and an albino red tailed shark. the tank is really going well, even have a floating fry holder as the orange molly has fathered some fry. today we arrived home at 2 pm, and the orange molly was floating mid tank, kind of waiving side to side, but not trying to swim and has been doing so ever since. he will sit on leaves and seems as though he cant be bothered to swim! it is the equivilent to somebody in a straight jacket. can you help me too help him?

thank you very much.

Stats would be good in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
That shark needs a 40gal tank as they are aggressive as they get older, they like there own terroritory, i would rehome him as he will start to pick the fish off.
Molllies are brackish fish, take a look here as it sounds like this to me.

you are spot on there, that is exactly what it is, the ph is 7.5. i will update the other stats 2morro. i did a water change at 4 today, i think it would be that. i will turn the heat up to get the temp right. the molly has started to swim forward in the last 10 minutes which is a good sign.

will update 2morro on his progress.

with regards to the shark, i will be purchasing a 120 litre tank hopefully in the next 2 months, is it ok to move the other fish with him? he is at the minute about 5 cm's in length.

i will add some salt 2morro to make the water more brackish, will that be a problem with the other fish in the tank?

thank you for your reply.

I think red tailed shark are scaless fish so do a good search on the fish before adding the salt.
I have a 120 litre tank a reckord 120 which is 30gal.
Are you doing a fishless cycle or using some filter sponges from the old tank and some gravel.
