I don't really know how much to order to be honest, I've looked into every plant and checked out it's width to try and guage, but then I got confused when I looked at aquariumplants.com. Let me give you an example:

Hygrophilia Polysperma. Tropica lists it's width as 5-8 cm. Cool. So I go to AP.com and check it out:

Click

$1.49 (each I presume).

Now if you look on the bunched plants list: Click you can see it says: Hygrophilia (Hygrophila polysperma)(LARGE size 9"-11", 6-8 stems)

Soooo.. what's the 9"-11" mean?

Thoroughly confused.

and come to mention it, what's the 6-8 stems about? Does that mean each plant has 6-8 stems on it, or, you get 6-8 stems.. ie 6-8 plants?

When buying stem plants, (i.e. cuttings, not plants with roots and a crown), it is typical to send several. The 6-8 stems means they will send 6-8 "plants" if you like, they expect you will plant them as a bunch.

9" - 11" will be the length of the stems.

Okay... so, this may a stupid question but like, how much surface area does a 'bunch' cover (I know it will depend on the plant species) but generally speaking.... how close together should I plant the stems etc?

(someone should write an article on this cuz I can't find one anywhere)

Okay! I found my answer

Plant no more than three stems at a time per group, and leave an inch or two of space between each group of stems. More space is even better for light-hungry species. Remember that your tank will look best with one or a few good-sized clumps of a single species than it will with a single stem here and there.

and i thought i'd looked everywhere on the net for an article like this!

A bit of a warning for you. Aquariumplants.com is great, but I found that I had to split and prune a lot of my order. The plants sent to you are huge, especially the bunch plants. I ordered anacharis, which was supposed to be 9-11", but it was more like 12-14" long, great for me. I also had to crop the Wisteria they sent me and the Ambulia. But the plants were great and arrived in excellent condition. Their cryptocrynes are particularly lovely. I probably will not buy plants from a fish store again, unless its one or two specimens for a small tank. I will definitely be purchasing from them the next time I set up a large planted tank. :D

Next week, I have to remove the rubber bands and metal anchors as my plants have already taken root, and these are only temporary. I bet my fish are really sick of me screwing around with their tank.

Hope this helps

Thanks for letting me know. And I thought I was going to risk not getting enough plantage lol
