I used to live in S. Florida, where acquiring new and bizarre and hard to find FW fish was NOTHING. I even worked at a store there and could order almost anything I wanted.
Now, I live in central FL, and the one hometown fish shop closed last year, due to being outsold by Pet-SMART< SUPERMARKET<CO. Now all I can get locally is tetras, mollies, guppies, etc. No offense to anyone who loves these guys, but not my cup of tea. I occasionally find a decent fish at these stores, but really, nothing that gets me excited.

I am interested in entering the world of ORDERING fish on line. I am hoping that someone here has done this, and can recommend online sources of fish. My gut instinct tells me to try to order fish that are close in proximity to me, but I am interested in any experiences people have had. How are they shipped? Has anyone ordered from over seas? What kind of cost am I looking at? Have you found it is more economical to order in bulk as opposed to ordering a few fish at a time? I could drive to south Fl every so often and buy a bunch of fish. Does it seem like this would be about the same cost/time wise?

I tend to prefer south and central Am cichlid, cats, plecos, Asian fish, eels, gobies; that kind of stuff.

I truly enjoy some of the hybrids, and used to have the most beautiful lemon yellow parrot cichlid. I would love a GOOD source of this type of fish. All I ever see here is the basic "blood" parrot. No yellows, no marbles, no purples.

thanx.

www.aquariumfish.net is a great website with a nice variety and they seem to know their fish... The shipping will run you something like 23.00 whether its 1 fish or 10000 fish. Check it out, Good luck. If anyone has any other sites i will also be intrested in hearing about them.. Thanks

aquabid is a great, but i can gurantee you wont be able to find purple or yellow parrots on there as these type of parrots have been dyed and most fishkeepers beleive keeping them to be morrally wrong.

Ive heard the Dye, Will sometimes drive the fish crazy or a non-agressive fish to be aggressive, Some may jump and bit the rug. Im not sure on the truth of that but i could see it possible. I try to stay away from dyed fish.

For the record, there are varieties of colors that are not dyed. This is what I had, and this is what I am in search of. Thanks for your concern, but I know what I'm asking for.

Thanks for th einfo on the sites- I'm going to check them out!
