Just ordered my new Algae free mag float.
Great advice from the experts here.
But, agh....50 bucks!!!!

I guess my Serpulidae - Christmas Tree worm is going to have to wait :-(

Anyone have any experience with these beauties????

Kim

I hope you got the Piranha Float, the larger ones can crack your 55G!

Even so, be careful first putting it in -- slide the two parts together, don't let them snap together.

Around corners, use your finger under the magnet you hold and then slide it out after making the turn.

What are you guys talkin bout?? Lol, i dont know what they are? Could u post a linkl or something for me to look at?? :)

be careful with the mag floats. they are great bits of kit but they ahave extremely powerful magnets and the unwary can easily lose grip when placing it in the tank for the first time and smash the glass.

here ya go Mr.Miagi
Algae Free Mag Float

I just got my ups shipping notice... I've got 5 days to wait....... :X

Thanks for the mention on handling of these bad boys, I definatley am one who likes to learn from others mistakes !!! :*

The Mag Float brand is nothing compared to these Kim and I are talking about. Kim just keeps mixing up the Algae Free floating magnet with the Mag Float brand, which is cheap and IME does not do much vs. coralline.

In the end, neither does the Algae Free if you are not diligent.

Oh ... be careful near the sand not to catch any in the magnet or you will scratch the heck out of your glass... like I did ... grrrrrr

:X Me too ostrow

Took me a few days to work out where all the scratches were coming from too

Ok guys... got it... mag float is a brand not a type of device.
I have one I only paid ten dollars for mine as very strong magnets in them smashed my finger in it
Ebay ??? after i saw the price on the web, i checked ebay.... no luck.

Diligence... my middle name! I've been taking care of kids pets, hubbies (he's the worst...2 ferrets, 1 peach conure and a chameleon)......The fish are mine.
Since starting my tank, he has decided the next tank is his and it's gonna be a preditor tank.... I kinda had my heart set on a coral tank.....I think i'll wait until i'm ready for a preditor and then let him buy stuff. I know it'll be my responsibility to maintain it.... lots of reading and posting, gotta do the sump and a min. of 100 gal. Maybe a year from now.....we'll see

(thanks for the nano vent ^_^ )

Hey kim you do a great job there minding everything it seems! You are more than welcome to look after my tank if you like! :p
Its a reef tank too :hey: :p :D

LOL

My tanks are the most relaxing part of my life... even though they do take a lot of dedication, the pay off is worth it. I finally found my portal to serenity.
