Hi i bought my dalmation mollies from a few days ago. The following day one of them appeared to have orange spots around her body.. then another of the mollies developed it.

Please could anyone tell me what this could be?

I've been using medifix til i know what it is.

Does it look like a dusting of gold powder?

Water stats for ammonia and nitrIte, nitrAte and ph?

Size tank and stocking?

Are you sure the spots are not normal patterning.
Is it possible to load a pic onto the site.
Any signs of flicking and rubbing or excess mucas.
Any redness to the spots.

I honestly thought it was the flake food to begin with as it is that colour and thought somehow it might of stuck to the fish... Its not gold or powder. I have looked up the velvet disease as that came close but its nothng like the images i seen.

I really have no idea what my stats are as i have no idea how to test for them other than going to pets at home, which they said seemed all fine 2 wks ago.

I have a 4 foot tank

2 small shark fish. one kissing fish, to corys, a few mollies. (babies are in a seerate tank) 1 plec (foot long), one male gourami. I have a seperater with my new dalmation mollies in and there are 3 present.

I change 25 to 30% of the water on a weekly basis and recently added tropical salt, stress coat and medifix. I have two filter systems.. one internal, one external. Water temp around 27degrees. Is all that ok?

Shine a torch on the fish with tank lights out to see if you can see a gold dusting on the fish, golden to yellow spots. or a rusty coloured varnish.

I'll try take some pictures now. My descriptions are as hopeless as my directions lol

They are rusty coloured and scattered over the body, mainly stomach area. They seem larger than a dusting size.. If that helps!! I am really struggling to gather any collection of pictures! They hide one place to the next.

I don't understand how they can appear in 24hrs?? They seem well atm but obviously this is not normal. Im sure they didnt look like that when i bought them. I will try to take more pictures in the morning before work.

If it was velvet the fish would be rubbing them selves like something irratating them.
Hows the fish breathing.
How do the gills look.
Any excess slime.
