It's not looking good. "She" has an extended belly and trouble swimming. Also doesn't appear to be eating. She's had the problem a few times since we got her 2 years ago. We used a product available in Canada by Tetra called Lifeguard, which is supposed to help with several conditions, but it didn't help. We are going to feed her peas next. Is there anything else we should be trying.
What have you 'personally' used or done that solved the problem?
Thank you.

Sounds like constipation. If she will eat the peas that might help. Parboil them and pop them out of its skin first. Epsom salt treatment is effective also. What were you feeding?

Are frozen peas okay- thawed and pealed? We might try the salt too. Thank you!

That's what I use--frozen, boiled for a minute, and peeled. My goldfish get them at least once a week. And you want epsom salt--unscented.

Okay.
We've never had a heater since we got them. I just read it can help to bring the temp up to around 80. Do you think it will help to buy a heater?

No. Heat will not help constipation. I have never used a heater on goldfish except one time years ago to treat ich on some new imports.
