i have a 180 litre juwel tank thats not set up yet, its going to be a fowlr wen set up but for now i just wanted to know what stocking options i have so i can get reasearching all possibilities, compatabilities etc while i wait for my tank to be fully set up etc. ive started to look at a few fish the usually hardy clowns and chromis, but i wanted something different and unusally.

so any help/ideas will be great!

Well, if you want unusual from a form standpoint, somethin like a frogfish would fit the bill. If you want some fancy colors, look into wrasses :D

yeh ive seen those frogfish odd looking things! i really wanted a dwarf lionfish but i think it may be a bit eager for a beginner and i would expect them to eat any other small fish i wanted in there!

ive just looked at alot of wrasses and most of them seem compatable and look awesome! cheers for the advice ski, i think wrasses may be my best option, since im taking there be compatable with clownfish/dottybacks which i also like...

thats good to hear :hyper: cus they have one at my LFS and they look really imposing you tend to not look at much else! what else could be kept with one though?

anyone know if a dwarf fuzzy lionfish will be okay with wrasses and or full grown clown fish?!

sorry for all the querys i just dont want to get one then realise it may eat anything else i put in the tank! -_- and thanks for all the help so far!! :good:

A baby dwarf lion won't, but a partially or fully mature dwarf lionfish can easily swallow most clowns and wrasses.

maybe il stick to clowns, wrasses, dottybacks and a small dwarf angel :) are all small wrasses compatable ? or would i only be allowed one wrasse in the tank.
no lionfish also means i can get a better looking clean up crew too! without fear of them being chomped

i have a dwarf lion reall nice looking fish in the lfs wherethere are no rok in which to hide, i have had it for 6 months and could cont the amount of times ive seen it on my hands he/she is always in hiding. i thought i was doin well it had'nt eaten any of my livestock, that was until last week i saw it proudly swimming with a cardinals tail sticking outta its mouth... nevamind

If you keep it stuffed the risk is low. One of the people on this board (Mr. Miagi) once kept one with ocellaris clownfish.

dont think il take the risk on a dwarf lion just yet, since i like the smaller fish and clean up crews. especially the flasher wrasses ive seen! i wanted a valentini puffer, but they eat clean up crew alsowhich i also want ... but i think ive found a solution, on liveaquria they have a filefish called mimic saddle puffer! im just wondering if anyones had one or knows about them much?!

Click on 'Have You Overlooked These Fish?' in my signature. Scroll down to puffers, lionfish. It'll probably help you out. :good:

Well I have a valentini in my reef even with cleaner shrimp and fanworms and anemones and corals so go figure :good:
