I don't know very many species of fish, and I would really like to get some variety in my tank.
I have a 30 gal (115 L or so I think). I have 4 Mollies, 4 Platy's, 2 Guppies and a Cory (I know I should have more cory's) That's part of my plan.

I'm rehoming my Mollies and would like some other options. I was thinking of getting a Gourami and some Barbs perhaps. But I'm not sure.
I'd like some other possible options.
My male Platy can't breed (I've had him since June 2011 and never had any fry from any of my 3 females)

So does anyone else have some other options? I'm looking more for a single or pair of center piece fish :)
I was wondering if Rainbow fish would be an option. I know next to nothing about them, I just thought they looked pretty at the pet store :)

Gouramis do well in trios as opposed to pairs, and rainbowfish depending on the species can grow quite large, and all species of rainbowfish are schooling fish.

You could do pearl gouramis, moonlight gouramis, or honey gouramis, or you could look into the wide array of dwarf cichlids, or peaceful medium sized cichlids as well.

Unless he has an AMAZING LFS that sells male and female Gourami's, he shouldnt get more than 1. Males will fight. For you centerpeice id recommend a pair of Golden Rams. Then id add in 5 more cory's and call it stocked lol!

You might look into a pair of bolivian rams.....I have a pair myself in a 47g with two 10 -fish shoals and some angelfish. They are really cute fish with quite a bit of personality, or as cichlidlover said, so with golden rams
