Hi all,

I've just come into possession of a new 30l (8G) tank - I bought it as a recovery tank while my usual hospy tank was in use (booked up for the next couple of weeks!), but now it's not needed.

So now I have this nice small tank going spare, and was thinking it'd make a nice nano tank to go in my bedroom - any ideas what to stock it with?
After it was used for its original purpose, I stripped it down and replaced the sponge filter with a new fluval 1+ internal filter, and have just started on a cycle (my first ever proper fishless cycle, incidentally! ), so I'm not looking to do anything for a while yet, this gives me some time to plan this properly.

I was thinking about getting a reasonably well planted tank going, with some shrimps and maybe an ADF or two, but it'd be nice to get a couple of small fish in there as well, if possible. This is the first time I've done anything with a tank this small, so I'm not sure what my options are.

Any ideas/comments/suggestions? Tank dimensions are 18"x10"x10".

TIA

Garry

Good size for a Betta tank. I have a nano 35L in my bedroom, and I love it. It has a male betta, oto cats, cherry barbs and a zebra nerite snail. Heavily planted too

I've been thinking about a betta, that does seem the obvious choice. Not sure on the rasboras, I've heard they like soft water with low pH (my water is hard, with about 7.5 pH)? If it can work, it's definately worth considering. I'll take a look around next time I'm at my LFS.

Million, what sort of plants do you have? And what have you done about lighting? I can't find any hoods for this size tank (apart from the crappy bit of plastic that came with it!), so I'm thinking about a DIY canopy?
