Hey guys, Joe again. Just wondering your opinion on this new possible setup in a 55 gallon/240 litre.

3 peppered corys & 3 albino corys
3/4 honey gouramis
2 angelfish
pair of apistogramma cacatuoides (triple or double red)
pair of german blue rams
any problems any of u guys can see here?? caves plants and other hiding spots will be provided :)
cheers, thanking in advance

Unless you add the angles & neons at the same time, the angles will scoff em up, neons are their natural prey in the wild.

If the angles grow up with th neons then it is less likely they will see them as food.

Yes I would get the neons first, let em grow bigger, then get the angels young at a much later stage. I planned to do that with the corys. Think I will get a group of 6-8, with bronze and albino because they are the same species, just differenciate in colour!
but thanks guys!

I had young Neons and an Angel introduced at the same time (they were all small), but once the Angel got big enough, the Neons started to disappear. So I have trouble recommending stocking them together.

And it seems like you might be 3-4 fish overstocked, but I don't know your planned filtration. But I suppose if you slowly work your way up to that stock level, you can monitor the stats and see how the tank handles the load.

i do not plan to get all of them, but thanks for telling me! i dont think will get the angels, might stick with gouramis. but can anyone reccomend any other replacment for angels??

I think Gouramis could serve well as one of your larger centerpiece fish, along with the Rams and Apistos. I don't assume any level of knowledge, but are you aware that German Blue Rams can be very sensitive to water quality? The general opinion I see on this forum is that you need stable, pristine, established tank water (low hardness, low pH, low nitrates) to keep them healthy. If you think this might be an issue in your tank, then Bolivian Rams and Apistos are great alternatives, I think. (BRs are a little less colorful and slightly larger, and very tolerant of some water quality fluctuations) You can see BRs in my video in my signature - oh, and my avatar.

yes i know, i didnt plan to add them till the tank is stable and all levels are good. I did consider bolivian rams, and i havnt ruled them out yet. i actually think they are quite pretty fish, i may still go for them! probably will! taa
