Ok. day 3 into fishless cycle.

Are these looking good. Hopefully it gonna be a fast cycle

PH 6.4
Ammonia 4.0
Nitrite 0.25-0.50
Nitrate 40

Nitrate showing 40 did'nt expect nitrate already, never mind nitrite

Zoe

do a 20% every 3rd time you add ammoina or if your nitrAte goes over 40. but only a small one.

you dont have to do it, most people would tell you not to, but i have done it with 6 tanks and found that it speeds the process up a bit.

Ok cool. i have only added ammonia the once though, should i just take 20% out then put more ammonia in after i do a test?

Zoe

wait until the ammonia goes down to 0, do a wc every 3 times you add the ammoina. then add enough to get back to 4-7. the do it again, and again, and again, then do a wc. and so oon

add, add, add, wc, add, add, add, wc.

get it?

Wait a minute, (not to confuse the issue) why do water changes during the fishless cycle and dilute the food available to the bacteria colonies. Not having done one I may be mistaken, but i thought you went through the whole cycle without doing a water change to colonise the filter, then a big water change the day you add the fish to dilute the now very high levels of nitrate.

Again i'm not wanting to confuse the OP, but the advice given in the thread goes against what i'd read on other threads about the fishless cycle. Please feel free to correct me if i'm wrong.

its amazing there is talk about water changes etc during a cycle

i've cycled loads of tanks, add your ammonia source then just WAIT, WAIT, WAIT
