Hello........ I'm re-aquascaping my tank after getting my JBL set 2 CO2 system for christmas :D :D and I was wondering where was best to buy from online in the UK. I've bought from greenline before but is there a better alternative?

I can second what RYO said - Birstall are superb. A little more expensive, but tip top quality.

Quick one whilst on the topic of online plants. For those people who have used Java in the past, do you get a confirmation e maiil after placing an order?
I placed an order just before Christmas and never got any sort of confirmation, think I'll call them

Hi Ste_J,i used Greenline just before christmas and got a confirmation e-mail yes.
And the delivery took just three days which was excellent considering the holiday rush.

In fact,i have recieved confirmation e-mails from every one who i have dealt with.

Only use companies that you have seen regulary in magazines or by those that have been recommended by others such as the people on this forum. :)

Cheers Dave

Think I'll give greenline a go. Only looking to get a selection for now until my new tank settles then I'll start looking at what I really like.

I've bought nice plants - cheap - off ebay... Swords, Java Fern, Java Moss, Cambola(?)...

Given that the choice, quality and price of plants at the LFS was pretty poor I decided to buy from Greenline. I settled on choosing larger quantities from a smaller number of species collections (vallisnaria spiralis, java fern, echinodorus paniculatus, echinodorus tenellus, cryptocoryne wendetii , amazon frogbit and hygrophilia polysperma)rather than on of their. The plants arrived the same week, each species individually packed in sealed bags and all had good root systems except the hygrophylia which soon developed some after a few days floating on the surface. After a month there was plenty of new growth apart from the frogbit which has all but disappeared. The only downsides are you do have to wait in to sign for the package and I did get some snails appearing shortly after planting, but I would have undoubtedly got them if I bought from the LFS and.
In total it cost me £18 (the P&P does bump the price up a bit) but for that I have a pretty well planted tank. I would certainly buy from them again.

Cheers

I know this thread is over a week old but worth mentioning anyway

BEWARE PLANTS YOU BUY FROM SELLERS ON EBAY

A lot of plants (not all, a lot of lfs are guilty of this as well) that come up for ID here that turn out to be non aquatic plants come from ebay, so just be wary better to check here first before you part with your cash.

And on the subject of online legitimate plant sellers AndyTaylor another member here had a nightmare recently with Java, IME people have rarely (not that i can remember anyway) been let down by Greenline.
