i just noticed that neon tetras just 3 outta five have white spots on them and i cant get into the store and get treatment for them ... omg it really sucks and all

so if i do end up losing them what should i do emty the water outta the tank and then re fill it and cycle it how do i start out as i get alot of conflicting ways
just add 2 fish or what some say add 2 fishes or add prawns or amonia
whats the best way to cycle the tank it a 10 gallon tank my daughter is gonna be upset
im gonna try my best to save them  im gonna change some of the water tommorrow just a 1\4 of the water and then treat thewater first and put the heater in it to heat it up to right temp and then pour it in ... as for poor fishes wiht spots how do i treat it natrually if possible

Among the pinned topics of the emergency forum you will find one on curing ich. It is rather heavily focused on medication as this is the surest way. So try to get hold of ich medicine as quickly as you possibly can. In the meantime, decent water stats is the one thing that is going to help your fish to fight the infection. So keep doing water changes, not just 25% every few days, but start with 50% and keep going every day. If you want to speed up heating the water you can mix cold tap water with boiling water from the kettle- I find 1 part boiling to 9 parts cold is about right for my tanks.

If the worst happens, I would empty the tank and disinfect it with a mild bleach solution, then read up on fishless cycling before you start again. It is by far the safest and most humane way of cycling a tank.

Also, ask for advice on suitable stocking here online, where people are very happy to share their experiences and are not trying to sell you anything.
