One Or Three?

Hi All,

I currently have 3 Pearl Gouramis in my tank.
I want to get rid of 2 of them to make room for another Angel.

When I got the trio from my LFS they told me to get 3 Pearls so that they would be aggressive between each other and would leave my other fish alone.
There is a bit of chasing between them now and then, but nothing serious.

If I get rid of 2 of the Pearls, is this likely to cause problems?

I don't know much about gouramis...

However; do you have one angel at the moment? If you do, adding another may cause you big trouble. On the whole angels are best kept in large groups (to spread the aggression) or as singles (unless you're lucky enough to have two that have paired up from a group). Putting one angel into another one's territory is asking for trouble, I'm afraid.

I have 6 Angels in my tank.
Been adding them one by one over the past few months and so far, no problems

Oh, ok; groups are normally ok; I was worried that you had just the one and were going to put another one in

A pearl gourami should be fine on its own.

Not at all, my Pearls are more peaceful singly.

I got rid of the 2 Pearls last night.
The remaining male that I am keeping seems very skittish though and is hiding all the time. Hopefully it will be a matter of time before he is uot and about again.

My now single Pearl seems to be getting a bit aggro. In particular he doesn't seem to like my darker Angels and keeps chasing them. More so than the lighter ones.

Will I have to get rid of him?
Is tihs some sort of long term habit/aggression that he's likely to develop?
