ive recently bought some tropical fish which have all been doin fine and seemed to be getting on but one of my tiger barbs has vanished!! theres no way it could have gotton out of the tank and theres no sign of its body so im uessing its been eaten, i wonder if anyone could tell me which of my other fish could have done this?? i have 2 small angel fish, 6 neon guppies, 3 other tiger barbs, 2 sunset somethings (small orange goldfish looking with red tails) a small male siamese fighter fish and 2 dwarf fire bellied newts. any ideas??
thanks

How many gallons is the tank.
What are your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.

Have you moved ornaments in the tank to see if he's there.
have you checked plants and inside filter.
Also check around the floor area to make sure he hasn't jumped out.

Can you post pics of the fish so people can identify them for you.
Most fish will peck at a dead body.

not sure exactly how big the tank is but its huge so i dont can be anything to do with that, ph is 7 so that should be fine too?
ive checked all the plants nd ornaments nd inside the filter no sign of it! its not on the floor around the tank and i wouldnt think it could go far...
do you think maybe it just died and they ate it or do you think they might have somehow killed it?? dont want this to happen to any more of them!!

Get a measuring tape and then put the measurement into the board aquarium calculator and that will tell you how many gallons your tank is.
The calculator at the top of the forum.

Its hard to say what happened to the fish. All you can do is have another good look around the tank for him.
He could of died and been eaten, It's not easy to say what happened.
Also take a sample of your water to the lfs and ask them to write the readings down for you.

As far as i can tell you are WAY overstocked.
Angelfish can grow to more than 8'' and need 20 gallon tank minimum and will become aggressive so sooner or later you'll see fish disapearing.

Yes your tanks is overstocked alot.
Always research the fish you buy on how big they grow, if there compatiable with the fish you keep.
I wouod get your water tested.
I would think of rehoming some of the fish.
