I'm betting, if I took it apart and cleaned it, I could get it to start up again.... but the new design of the Tidal filters is better for how I do water changes... I don't do a full 33% on this tank, because I don't want to have to restart filters every water change, and they are open topped, and with my lights, like 18 inches over the tank, a lot of algae grows on top of the Japan Mat inside the filter, and I don't particularly like that... so, both will get replaced, each about 2 weeks apart, and probably cleaned up, and put in the archives... that tank also has an under gravel filter, so I'm not concerned about lack of beneficial bacteria... I mostly use the hob's as solids removal...

they just don't make things like they used to... since they are going into storage, maybe they'll get fired up again, with some sort of 3D printed covers, in the future, after I'm gone???

35 years? Rip off.

I had to play with it a lot, but I have my 1980s, from a box in a barn Aquaclear running reliably now. It's main design flaw is a strength as the too narrow outflow they replaced is actually easier to direct for the tank, with has marbled hatchets that don't like a rough surface.

Clearly, we all need access to a filter storeroom with every brand ever made so we can pick them to fit what we want to do, and get at least 50 years out of them so we get our money's worth before we feed landfills. I can see a future where I announce "Replicator, make me an Aquaclear 110" and the AI gives me a hat.
