Okay so my mom and I went to best buy to pick up our computer and my mom owns a business on ebay so she ships a lot of stuff and needs lots of boxes. So Best Buy is right next to Petsmart and Best Buy said they had a whole bunch of boxes near the dumpster. So we went around the back and grabbed the boxes and stuck them in our trunk. Underneath the boxes was a 10 gallon hex acryllic aquarium! My mom hopped in the dumpster and grabbed it and I had to help her back out. It was hilarious! There were no cracks, but it needed a good cleaning. The windows of the tank are kind of foggy looking, but it is great as a betta tank. It has no lid or anything but I filled it about halfway and my betta is LOVING it. He was in a 1.5 gallon tank now he is in a 5 or 6 gallon tank. I will try to find a lid that fits it so I can fill it up more. I don't want him jumping out hehe.

Congrats on the great find. We have spring cleanup here every year. People put their "trash" on the side of the curb and the trash men get it. What is left of it of course. A friend of mine got 9, yes 9 tanks and a tank stand in one day. The tanks ranged from 5G to 40G. Again, Congratulations

I just talked to my friend Kyle, well I've only known him a few days as we just met in school and started talking, but he said he threw out over 30 tanks he had in his garage as he used to be really into fish, but he threw them all away. He didn't know anyone would pay anything for them. :hyper: I freaked out and told him he should have gave them to me, but he didn't know I liked fish haha. Oh well. :dunno:

MAN. I wish i could drive down the road tommorrow and find a nice 55 gal set up on the side of the road. :-( Nice find btw. I can't believe the amount of money people invest in something without realizing they can get atleast some of it back when they get out of the hobby.

Over half of my tanks I own are second-hand tanks I either got for free or VERY cheap. My 10 gallon set-up and my 120 gallon set-up are the only ones I've payed for. Everything else I have found at thrift stores and stuff like that and at yard sales too. My mom goes to yardsales every weekend so whenever she finds a tank or anything fish-like she grabs it up for me. I love her so much! <3

well done soem people have all the luck!

that said my first tnak was free with filter and everything so i guess i am one of them

Dumpster diving for fish tanks. VERY nice. :D
Great find!

I just found a pretty good deal - GrullaQuarters has a friend who wants to get rid of her tank - it's a 20gallon complete with heater, filter, tank and oak stand and I'm getting it for 50$. I'm not sure yet where I"ll put it (probably at the office) or what I'll put in it (probably divide it up for my 4 office boys) but I'm very excited about it!

with all the $$ I've spent on tanks I wish a nice big free one would come my way.
-_-

guessing I haven't accrued enough good karma. or maybe I spent it already...
