one guppy died, the other looks iffy :S

my pregnant guppy died 2day i think it was something to do with her pregnancy because her sack went all orange kind of colour instaed of black and then she died over night

do any of you no the reason for this?? i thort mayb because tank only a week old and i didnt do a cycle as i didnt have time but the other fish are flying so its nothing wrong with tank,

also my other pregnant guppy, is now huge and the black spot is totally black... my question however is.. in the days up2 giving birth does the fish generally not move around alot? as my other pregnant one is moving much atm, although at food time it moves so i think shes ok, just checking up to see if i have a problem

What are your tank parameters? If the guppy was already fighting the cycling of a tank then it could have stressed out with that and the pregnancy. Often the gravid spot will change from black to orange, it is just that the fry move around and if they are pointed toward the moms head the gravid spot will look orangish its when the eyes are toward the back that it looks black.
To answer your other question, Yes fish often get quieter in the day or two before giving birth. they also tend to get a little cranky and cant stand to have other fish near them. HTH

thanks thats really helpful towards my other pregnant fish, mayb it did get to much for ma guppy, 10g tank, hopefully in bout week ma new 4ft one coming then the other guys will relax abit, kinda funny about ornage slash black gravid spot, the babies must of bin last straw to her thanks for advice mate
