Have you got a tank that's none too perfect no matter how hard you try to make it look like so?

Do you think looks matter? Do you really care? Or are you an individual that lets nature work its magic in the tank?

I like planted tanks and I have 5 of them, all different in their own way - and I've pretty much let them grown as they want, with the odd trim now and again. I planted them where I thought the plants would look good and do well and so far so good. I like the natural look.

My biggest tank is like that. It started out as a planted community, and looked nice for a little, then it got all straggley, and I didn't like where the wood was, then it got algae...... so i pulled out all the plants and went for slate and other rocks..... didn't like that. So started from scratch (digging 3" of gravel out of a 40 gallon was no fun, especially as i had to stand on a stool to reach the bottom) and did it as an African Malawi cichlid tank..... spent a fortune on the fish and the rock! Looked nice for a while, but really doesn't now and i don;t know what to do with it. Might end up breaking it down completely again..... just can't seem to get it right.

Maybe because it's got one end to a window and the other end to a door - is that bad feng shui?
