i cleaned my tank out a day befor i went into perth but the water i put back in was a bit too warm i think cuz 2 fish are dead 1 a moon light gouramis and the other a midel sized try fin shark ........any way i was in a pet store in perth and was looking arownd i got a suprise when i saw the true typ giant gouramis it was sooooooo big no way i would buy one unless i had like a 7 foot tank or some thing but it was realy intresting i took some pics of it so some time soon i will post them .....but back to the topic i got a pair of platinum Gourami i dont no much about them can you breed them with the golden Gourami? oh and one of the platinum Gourami is in a bit of bad shape i asked the guy for 2 and did not look at the ones he took out till i was half way back home wich is a 4 hour drive i thort they were all the same but one of the ones i was given must have been attacked in bad way poor thing alot of his fins are realy riped up and i think his side was attacked a bit i am hopeing he will be okay i am treating him with some Medicine that helps grew fins back qick and kills bacteria and fin rot its one that fixers a few things .....any coments or things to say welcome
How warm was the water!!! It's unlikely water only a few degrees warmer would harm the fish in any way. More likely is forgetting the dechlorinator.....although i have a feeling you're the one who doesn't add it anyway?
Occassionally the water company will flush their systems with 'stuff' they neglect to tell us public type about. And sometimes this cleaner can cause serious damage to the weaker members of the fish community and especially if you do not use dechlor. I've had it happen to me in the past and lost three fish because of it.
Melafix or a similar type product will treat the fin damage and help the healing process. Just be sure to keep the water extra clean during treatment.

cool thats what im useing i could not rember the name last night lack, of sleep ....the stuff is called Melafix i kind of new it would be okay if it was just its fins but it look like its missing a layer of skin on one of its sides .......dame fish store not takeing care of its gouramis i was looking at the other one that i thort was 100% but i think he maby missing a bit of the long feeler thing that hang down im going to keep both of them and hope they get better .........as for the water i was care less i did not watch the water tempture as close as i should have they have the temp at 28 most time but it went to 32 i think they died of shock im lucky more did not die cuz they were sitting on the bottem of the tank not moveing much and breathing fast oh and the dechlorinator your right we dont use it down here i say we cuz i dont no any one with fish here who dose ..........as for the weaker members of the fish the ones that turned dead were the big ones ???oh and what can you breed platinum Gouramis with and when the colours mix what can u get .....i like breeding for a bit of fun now oh and the pet store said an under gravel filter would be better then a spong filter is that true (for the fry i mean )
Noooo!! Undergravel filters are irritating pointless pieces of smeg....to put it nicely. Use a sponge filter. I did with mine.
Platinums are just another colour morph of the 3 spot genus. Try to breed with blues as it is possible to get lavendars from this coupling. Something I'm failing dismally to get despite their rampant hormones and constant stream of fry. I'm afraid I left the last bacth in the adult tank to fend for themselves and still some have survived well and are growing rapidly.

hehehe i like how u said Undergravel filters are irritating pointless pieces of smeg.... as for sponge filters they said they do all most nuthing and get blocked up quick??as for the 2 Platinums i got i think the one whos missing a layer of skin on one side is geting sicker
i think it will be dead tommorow it not moveing much now and looks like it cant use half its body very well any more ,,,, i dont think i can do any thing more but watch i hate it when your watching your pets die and can do nuthing
i found it on the bottem of the tank poor thing i took a good look at its body stupied pet store need to look after its fish better cuz half of its body on bot6h side was like it had been skined im supried it lived this long it must have been in alot of pain i only had it half a week but he was still part of the tank and he will be missed (again bad stupied pet store oh incase some one missed it befor i got the poor fish like this from them)
