im going to be getting a 20 to 30 gallon tank on thursday and i would like to start thinking of some tank mates i can have with my black moor when i get one (after the tank cycles).. i was thinking of a red fantail goldfish but im afraid that the fantail will be quicker then the black moor. does anyone have any suggestions on what other type of fish i can have with my black moor because i do want some fish with color because although the black moor is soo cute he has no color...

also wanting to know what kind of plants those goldfish would like to have in the tank and what kinds were safe for them to eat .. because im looking onine and can not find what the names is of the plants they would like ... also cant find any place that sells them....

How do you feel about a ryukin goldfish? One of my dreams is to have a black moor and a red+white ryukin goldfish together, they're both so fat.

Some good beginner plants are elodea, anubias, and java fern. The goldfish might like to eat the elodea (and might eat all of it) but the other plants they don't usually like the taste of and leave them alone. If you cant find any stores that sell the plants, you can order them from websites online.

If you want to get 2 goldfish, get a 30 gallon.

yyea i reliezed that i need a big tank and now the proablem had arised that my fiences mother (who he lives with and would be were we would be keeping the fish) will not let us have a large tank in his room, but that the only place that she will let us keep the fish is in the living room, and i don't want to do that because theres an 8 year old there who acts like a 2 year old and im afriad he'd put the fish through a lot of stress bc they have betas and he is always knocking on the glass and i really don't want him to do that to my fish. so i think what we are going to have to do is either talk my partents into letting me keep the fish with me or just wait to get a tank til we move out.
butthank you for all your help and im sure by the time we move in together ill know alot mmore about fish and how to take care of them and hopefully fred2 will live a long happy life :)
