hi there,

this is probably a really stupid question!! i have been looking at buying some plants off the internet. the site i have been looking at sells collections of plants in different sizes. (18", 24", 30", 36", and 48") how do i know which to buy? do the inches equate to the length of my tank? also has anyone got any experience of buying plants on line...a good or bad move??!!

thanks for the advice and sorry for being stupid!!

L :hyper:

Yes, the inches refer to the length of the tank; the idea being that the collections will give you enough plants to 'fill' a tank of that size.

Buying plants online is fine, just be aware that some sellers will give you plants that aren't true aquatics, so you need to watch out for that. They're a very good way of getting plants to start off an new tank.

thanks flutter. i have never really been very good with plants to be honest!! didn't really have a lot of interest in them. always had a few live plants but having had a look at some members planted tanks, i think its time i did some proper research and took the plunge!! the shop i was looking at was plants alive. it says that it only supplies aquatic and amphibious plants. i'm not sure if this is correct! have you ever used them?? i only found out a few weeks ago, after 8years of fishkeeping that i had purchased a house plant from a lfs that was advertised as aquatic!! the very rapid rotting of the leaves should have been a give away!!

thanks again for the advice.

I haven't used plants alive myself, but they're always very highly spoken of.
