bumping this as i want to deal with this asap. thanks

If their eyes are bulging I'm thinking maybe popeye? Never dealt with it though so don't ask me about it! There are some good articles online though. Check on google images to see if they match up with your fish.

Sounds like a toxin to be that fast. When was your last water change? Has anyone done anything unusual outside the tank, air freshener, glade plug ins, fly spray.......?

I'd start with a big water change if it is toxins.

last wc was around 5 days ago.
nothing unusual around tank.
i will do a wc, how much you think? thanks

can someone recommend a medication please, i want to go get some asap. also with dosing with meds should i stop the liquid carbon? thanks.

Sorry no one else is replying and I really don't know what to reccomend!! :/

Whenever I get a sick fish I always use Melafix - It's fairy dust in a bottle imo... :D

I don't dose liquid carbon so I also cannot comment there either! Useless... -_- All I can say is either google it or look on the bottle it might say, sorry I cannot be of more help!

Best of luck!

thanks.

well I have done an 80% water change, cleaned 1 of the filter and treated the tank with esha 2000.
iv left the carbon out for now and will start dosing again when I solve this.
I couldn't get any mela/pimafix.
I will update tomorrow and let you know how I get on. xx

Sorry, been out and about.

Water change, as much as you sensibly can, even up to 90%.

Esha2000 is basically malachite green, an old traditional remedy. I'm a fan, but I'm generally not a fan of using specific antibiotics without knowing exactly what you're treating.

Maracyn variations are antibiotics that should be safe for your filter.

If you go for one of those, I'd personally choose maracyn 2, on the grounds of the minocycline it contains probably doing a better job on the bacteria most likely to cause pop-eye.

Ideally, get affected fish into a hospital tank and treat there, with a water change in the main tank to try to improve whatever toxic issue made them prone to the problem in the first place.

Good, good. Just seen your post, hope all goes well. No carbon in the filter and, with malachite, lights out.

Hope it goes well.

hi thanks for that,

in one of my filters i have what i think is carbon, am i right in thinking that carbon only has a certain time it works and after that its considered as bio media?

yes and no, it pretty much stops adsorbing after a while, but can then start to leech toxins. Think of it as trying to correct the concentration of the water by grabbing stuff. Once it's full, if you put very clean water over it it'll start to give stuff back. In general, if it's full it won't mess with your medications though. The sponge it's in will act as biomedia in the same way as any sponge in your filter.
