OMG THE BIGGEST MYSTERY????

My male molly died about 3 1/2 months ago and there is just 1 female in the tank now!!! Since the male died she hasnt given birth but in the last few days i have noticed that she is pregnant!!!!

surely she cant have breed with a swordie or a guppy because i know that mollies only breed with other mollies??

Well mollies have been known to cross breed with sword tails. Not to mention.........I think that after breeding the mollie will "Store up" so they can actually become pregnant for a few months without having another fish there.

I don't think mollys and swordtails can breed with each other because they are from completly different family groups, anyways; Most female livebearers can store male livebearer sperm in them and they can have up to 7 pregnancys even if there is no male in the tank- guppys in particular have been known to do this alot.
It is probable this is what has happened with your molly- either that or she is constipated.
