Ok, First off, my tank is over crowded, my Fancy guppies decided to have babies... Somehow, I got a bacterial thing or some fungus gook going around in my tank. (my water is currently being treated using Pimafix and Melafix). Second, I just lost 2 fish due to some kind of growth on my mickey mouse platy it was right beneath his anal fin (I thought he just had a back up or something and was initially going to treat him for constipation, it popped up out of no where one day he had it the next he didn't and the day I saw it he died... Then my male Delta/Fancy/English Lace?!!? (I have no idea what breed) had a similar growth coming out of his left fin near his gil I'd post a pic but he's so small I don't think the camera would show it well, but I took it to PETSMART and they told me it was a fungus/ bacterial infection of sorts, since I brought along a Cherry barb (sm) female who had some type of growth coming out of her mouth didn't look the same but seemed as though it may be the start of something. I'm at a loss and i don't know what to do. They couldn't identify what it was/is but told me to treat it with melafix/pimafix. PLEASE someone help me, and guide me to healthier tank for my fish. I do have a 29 Gal Bowfront that i'm trying to set up but I have no stand or top for it. It's been a project in the works for quite some time I've got a filter and heater but don't think I can work with that, I'm still a noob. HELP ME TO SAVE MY TANK BUDDIES... PLEASE...... Thx!

Ok, well first if the Melafix and Pemafix are not giving you results within a few days its time change the medicine. if this is the case then you will need to a water change, and then you can get a stronger medicine to add to the water. Next you need to figure out if its bacterial or fungus, to way different diseases. It sounds liek a fungus, but could you post pictures of it just to be sure. If i were you i would put the babies into a smaller tank, and then treat the tank with the stronger medicine. Also, I wouldn't contaminate the new bowfront with this disease. I would just quarantine them and continue to treat them in your current tank. I hope this helps you and your buddies.

I would post it if I could but the two that showed signs of it the most are dead... I flushed the WMM platy the other day and the Guppy today. All that's left that's showing signs is the barb N I don't have a good enough cam to snap pix of it, I just recently noticed that she can't shut her mouth tho if that tells you anything also.. i've noticed that there r white spots on the glass, kinda like algae... so as you said I'm assuming it's fungus. BUT none of this occurred until after I put a Phos-x Packet in the filter area and some kinda of white rocks (I forget what they are called) in the filter cartridge. Idk... We'll see n a few days about the Melafix and Pimafix

I don't think the spots on the glass and the disease on the fish are related, and neither is the addition of new media. Thee only thing I could think of was if you washed all the media bacteria could have been lost and ammonia could have spiked causing the fish to get stressed.

If you can't post a picture, then just treat the tank with furan-2 and fungus cure. You may loose some babies, but it's better then the whole tank.
