Yes hun it's a little way down the page, 'meet my new lickle man' but they are phone pics so terrible quality, am hoping to get a better pic though

Eummm.
I don't get whats going on.
To me the water looks Brown and dirty with some bubbles..
please explain for some who has never had a betta :)

It's not brown or dirty lol it's just my camera phone is crap and has no flash, the picture quality is murky to say the least, there is no overhead light on the tank either.

It's a bubble nest anyway, they build them when they are wanting to spawn or evidently when they are happy.

ahh cool,
do they normally make them close to the surface?
Wouldn't bubbles in the tank destroy it???

now you just need a female eh?

There's no filtration right now, I'm toying with it, but feel he may be better without it, so there's nothing to destroy the nest

It's a credit to you that he's made such a lovely bubble nest. It doesn't mean you need to make yourself a problem like what to do with one hundred new Bettas. The bubble nest doesn't necessarily mean he's thinking about girls and babies, just that his conditions are right and he feels good.

how big is your tank may I ask, Also is he alone?

And why do people have them in small tanks?
do they not move much? or is it simply people feel its a waste to have a large tank?
as I have a spare 2ft

They can go with certain other fish, but it also depends on the personality of the betta himself. For a 2ft you're probably better getting a sorority of females! :good:

yes I have read that Females don't fight!
but why do people keep them in a small tank....
But males have longer fins and do look nicer,
I did consider having a male with some otocinclus.

Whoops, sorry MermaidMel, I completely went off topic on you're post and forgot to say congrats! Now you can feel proud to have made him a happy boy! :good:
