OMG, my tank smells like

I am cycling. "Fishless"

I went to get some tank water and when I opened the hood it smelled like A55!

Ok, I took a second wiff and it smelled like a dead animal on the side of the road.

Is this normal? Will the water start to smell?

im cycling my tank with fish and it smells like that to.

My tanks smelled like pure ammonia when I cycled them. It goes away in a few days . . . or until you stop adding ammonia.

UPDATE:

I just opened my top again tonight and took a big wiff and the smell is gone, well still has a smell but nothing like it was. The water is getting better but still a little cloudy.

Yep... just gotta love that "cycling" smell. It's even better when you clean your tanks and forget to wash your arms... they smell like fish for the rest of the day.
