OMG, my shrimp has eggs....

just noticed that one of my mature shrimp has plenty of dark goey stuff under its body, quite sure they're eggs


maybe they'll be fresh food for my fish

i could barely make out the shrimp in the first. but this is better. it definately looks like eggs.

this should be in the invertabrate forum, and shrimps are easy to breed no big deal, i've bred them before.

Breeding Amano shrimps is not easy - Once they have eggs they just dissapear...

We have 11 - and get egg holding all the time...

The eggs are normally grey (like yours) but on one occasion the eggs were bright orange. I can only assume that they are orange when they have been succesfully fertilised...

I seperated 3 from the rest of them for about 3 months and tried to get fry - to no avail....

um...are you saying at all 11 shrimps with eggs...and you think they can get fertilised?... arnt only females suppose to have eggs? and are baby shrimp called frys? just like fish?

My female is also carrying eggs. Although after reading the above article I see now that they carry eggs a lot anyway.

Nevertheless, it's exciting when you see it for the first time
