I aggree that 3 in a 5 gal wouldn't be good, however that tank only shows the fish as an illistration. many small tanks are advertised on the box like this with a very small disclaimer pointing out that small tanks are for small fish or words to that effect. :D
 
yup i think that right there is a good betta home and maybe a few otos can be in there or a few neons or cardinals or headlights
 
eek that reminds me of my friend who keeps a gold fish in a 10 gallon, and just added a lionhead goldfish & a fantail :unsure:

i wouldnt put anything in there except a betta. there isnt enough floor space for ottos or cories. there is certainly not enough room for tetras. its only a 3 gallon!

most companies that sell aquariums use pictures with 320832492343498 fish in a 5 gallon. i think this is where most people new to fishkeeping get the ideas that they can put bettas in thimbles and sharks in bowls...
