I changed the water today, and it must have just dropped the temperature too far. I drained some water out and topped up with cold, I must have misjudged how much I was putting in. Both the balas are dead.

I always mix to temp for the smaller tanks, but in the 6ft under a 30% change, I just use the hose. How the hell cold was the water in the taps today anyway? hottest day of the year my eye!

I feel so bad for them, I do hope they don't feel any fear, I'd hate to think they were in there worrying about the cold and knowing they couldn't do anything to help themselves :(

Dan is ever so upset but he is pretending to be ok because I killed them by accident. Poor sharks. They were 6 or 7 inches long each, we'd had them since they were little tiny under-an-inch-long fish.

Sorry for the loss.

I'm surprised that the temp would swing enough to kill them on a 30% water change. It could be due to the hot weather that the tank temp before you started was a little higher than usual and the cold water was therefore more of a shock.

Might be worth testing the water for ammonia etc just to be on the safe side but the water change is a little coincidental and i suspect you are correct and the temp change was the cause of the deaths.

I take it any other fish in there are OK?

Chin up. :good:

R.I.P. I tend to agree with ferris.
