I was looking in my tank last night and noticed that my new female platy that i got on Friday was acting stange upon a closer look i noticed she was having fry but i only managed to save two because my angel fish got to them first :-(
I put them both in a breeder net and got back from work today and one of them had died. The remaining one is very lively and is eating liquifry for livebearers hopefully it will survive to adult hood.

Congrats on the baby! Sorry to hear his/her brothers and sisters didn't make it though. :(

Best of luck raising the little guy! :D

Congrats on the baby, and good luck with raising it. Sorry to hear about the other, and as for the angel fish, we had the same problem, but now whenever our guppies/mollies/platies give birth in our main tank, they all survive until adulthood, the adult fish just dont seem to bother with them anymore. :)

Ahhh angels are major fry eaters. I have an endler due to give birth an day now (She looks like she's swallowed a box right now  ) and I want to rescue some before the angel finds them...or the other livebearers...or loaches....*doh* I'd put her in the breeders net but both mine are already in use. *Bangs head on desk. Happily many get pulled through into the large built in filter (It's around 10 gallons in size this thing) and I can fish many out of the first part with no ill effects to the fish at all. Fingers crossed I get some!!
Best of luck with the little one. You'll have to post up a piccy soon. :)
Hugs,
P.

Lokked at he / she this morning and the fry and its mum seems to have whitespot would it be ok to treat with whitspot treatment. Dosage on the bottle say 1 drop per gallon of water my tank is 27g would it hurt the fry if i use this treatment thanks

Usually the safest way to treat with fry is using a half-dose. If you still have the mother in the breeder net, you definitely need to take her out. She might have gotten ich from being stressed.

What other fish do you have in your tank? You might be able to treat with salt, which works really well for me. There's also a whole topic in Tropical Fish Emergencies, called "Platy with Ich". I've posted a lot in there about ich, so you might want to read through that.... :)

Thank for your help the platy fry died, but i am now treating the rest of the tank including mum with meds. Hopefully she may have another batch of fry and i will be able to save a few more fry .
