Would old pumps out of a pond (been out for a good 6-12 months now) be okay to use for backups/salt mixing etc?

So long as salt water wont come into contact with anything metal then it should be fine. Id also saok it in vinegar first. Quite a few people use laguna pumps on marines and they are pond pumps

I will strip them down anyway to clean them and check the shafts, I think they are ceramic. I had a feeling soaking them in something would have been preferable, but I couldn't think what would have been best.

Thanks :)
