i m not sure how to tell the difference of age. i pick the smallest and most lively bettas.i bought one to weeks ago from a pet shop this is him ace. is he an old fish?

picsdifficult to tell, he has fin damage, keep an eye on that!
if he was from a regular run of the mill pet shop he's probably aged 8 months to a year old.
well when i look at him hes got spines growing from his tail (white regrowth) also look at the tip of his dorsal finthats not combtail crowning. thats damage. hmm your pics have disappeared. it look frayed and irregular.

thanks i went into the petshop 3 days before i saw him so he would be a new arrival. i will soon send new pics when i have had him 1 monthcatxx means that the tail fin also called the caudal was niped. See how it's shorter? Quite a number of petstore VT have the spikey dorsal finAnd I'd have to agree on the age, looks to be 6-8 months old (give or take)
